Ladder Piece features five lavalier microphones, three contact microphones, two performers (Al McCarthy and Camila Arévalo), two transducers, a ladder, and a quadraphonic sound system operated by Ian Kang. Through the real-time manipulation of audio feedback, the work transforms the ladder into a resonant instrument, producing industrial vibrations and immense, shifting hums.
